When a Writer Gets Personal

10:24 PM

If you were to look into my previous post here, you will know that I was feeling weak and low just the other day.  You will know, because of the tone and the topic.  But that is the thing about writers, we tend to write about what we feel and that is what makes blogs like these very personal.  Even with the lack of personal details included, the contents and their messages are always personal.

Ever since I started this blog, I likewise started to view my daily personal experiences in a different light.  Without actually meaning to, I found myself looking for something worthwhile to share to my readers.   They need not be extraordinary experiences, just hopefully extraordinary interpretations of them.

I have ghost-written many articles for other people but the articles featured here and my hub-pages are the only ones under my name.  The articles I wrote for others always require proficiency in the written English language but very seldom require me to reveal a part of me as a person.  As long as I provide carefully researched and grammatically-correct articles, I was good to go.

That is why this blog will always be special to me because this is who I am: my strengths, my weaknesses, my successes, my failures, my hopes, and my fears all rolled into one package.  Writing has become an important part of me.  Writing is me, getting personal.

My Say

I never thought I will see this day that I dare call myself a writer.  Although writing requires proficiency in the chosen language because it is a form of communication, it goes beyond the technicalities.  Writing will involve the writers' emotions and perceptions.

That said,  I feel blessed that I have been given the extraordinary opportunity to be a writer and get personal if I choose to.

Addendum:  I have since added teresay.com to my writing venues.

  1. Likewise and I could relate to almost what's inside you right now, the only thing is that I am in the situation to look for new information or trend since I am connected in a healthcare industry.

  3. The best write-ups usually come from what we personally experience and write them, making more realistic to readers. It's like they feel what's in the writer.

  6. I know exactly what you mean. Writing has always been my way to express myself and just get things off my chest. Even with all the technology and stuff, I do it the old-fashioned way: with a beautiful journal and a fancy pen. As a writer, I've always been on the computer typing and writing my articles. Shifting to the traditional pen and paper is part of the release for me.

  8. Hi Adeline, sure feels good that there are still other people who prefer to write the old-fashioned way which I think is an art in itself.

  12. Writing relaxes me, and blogging (and interacting with readers/fellow bloggers) help me challenge my thoughts even more. I usually write when I am depressed/happy or excited :)

Having sponsors is just a plus for me ;)

  13. I don't usually call myself a writer. I mean, yes, I do blog but that's it. Not sure if you can call it a writer. But being personal as a writer, it always comes to that point. We tend to put ourselves in our own stories and tthis actually makes it more meaningful.

  15. I have six blogs but sadly none of them is as personal as yours. I want also to set-up a new blog where I can post what's really inside me.

  17. Yes Mavin, when readers make us feel that they understand, it is like a validation of our writing efforts.
