The writing pen stopped at the same time my thoughts meant for print went silent. There was no specific reason but more of a combination of life happenings that eventually dulled the will to write. I thought it was gone forever until I started feeling that creative drive growing back slowly and led me to this post.
There are many reasons why writers go through this phase of block or burnout. For myself, it was primarily grief for losing a loved one. Then reality kicked in which needed me to go back to formal employment as my two younger children were still in school. I was also committed to volunteer work which I just recently let go of.
Did I miss writing? I certainly did but the physical and mental exhaustion of putting the family, my work, and our community in order made it impossible for me to do it then. Now, I think I'm in a better place to resume writing and speaking on topics that are relevant to the times.

My Say
As a senior citizen, a long-time volunteer worker, an HR practitioner, and a mother of three adult children, I believe I can contribute to discussions as we all try to navigate life as best as we can. That said, I am happy to be back, with the intention of simply enjoying it.
